Top 13 Most Frequently Asked Questions About Boudoir Photography

Boudoir Photography-Frequently Asked Questions

The thought of doing a boudoir session can be very intimidating. When talking to women about their session, I get asked all kinds of questions. Over time I have compiled a list of my top 12 most frequently asked questions to give you some insight on prepping for a boudoir session with me!

Do you share my images?

This is 1000% up to you! The images that you see in my portfolio, or on social media are only from clients who gave me explicit permission to share their images. My number one priority is to make sure you have an amazing experience, including absolute privacy of your images.

Do I have to wear lingerie?

No you do not have to wear lingerie. This entire experience is customized for you. You can wear anything you would like.

If lingerie is something you are interested in, but do not currently own any, I do offer a size inclusive (carrying sizes xs-6x) client closet.

Check out this blog on choosing outfits to see some more ideas on what to wear for your boudoir session!

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes I do! We have a few different options.

The session retainer is required to be paid in full at the time of your booking. We do offer after pay at checkout which splits that retainer into four equal payments. You can read more about after pay here.

The collections are able to be put onto a “pre-session” payment plan.

The most popular is our “In House” Interest free payment plans. This is set up directly with the studio on bi-weekly, or monthly auto payments. The total balance is required to be paid in full 30 day prior to your scheduled session date.

We also offer Affirm, Klarna, and Paypal credit.

These options are great if you would like to have a session sooner. If approved you are able to carry payment plan with one of these payment processors. The payment processor pays the studio in full, and you are able to have your session sooner.

How far in advance should I book a boudoir session?

We recommend booking your boudoir session at least 6 months prior to your desired session date. This allows for a longer pre-session payment plan if you wish to utilize one. Although we have had clients book sessions as little as a week in advance, to a little over a year in advance.

Is hair and makeup included?

YES! This is the best part! We have a handful of wonderful professional hair and makeup artists. Hair and makeup is always included, except for certain mini sessions.

Do you photoshop my images?

I typically do not remove or alter anything that is not permanent. Part of the experience is learning to love yourself as you are. If you explicitly request for a scar, cellulite ect. I can remove, or smooth these things. As far as changing your body shape, I will not do that. We do offer skin smoothing, and remove things like bruises, acne, scratches, ect.

You will find that even directly out of the camera the images produced are beautiful. Many clients can’t believe they are not retouched yet.

Where should I purchase outfits?

If you would like to pick out your own pieces, these are the places I highly recommend. Torrid, Thistle and spire, and Lane Bryant are very size inclusive, and offer gorgeous pieces.

I also really like these companies although sizing is not as inclusive.

I am freaking out! How do I calm my nerves?!

First step.. BREATHE.

No seriously, practice deep breathing. In through your nose 1…2…3… out through your mouth 1…2…3…

This is going to help you during your shoot, as I will be coaching you to breathe with me the entire time. I will also be getting into every pose, before putting you into the pose.

Trust me when I say, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. It is completely normal to be freaking out. I promise you I am really good at my job.

This is going to be the best thing you ever did for yourself.

How many outfits should I bring?

Referring back to the previous questions, you can bring as many a you’d like, but you don’t have to bring any.

I do require you to bring a black thong if you’d like to try on client closet pieces.

It is also a fun idea to bring in a cozy sweater, robe, button down shirt, or sexy dress.

Sometimes clients will snag a piece of their partners wardrobe, such as a shirt, or maybe something from their work, or hobby.

Should I come to my shoot early?

I recommend arriving at the most 10 minutes early. We won’t be here earlier than that. The team really appreciates when you show up right on time.
